Ambejogai to Chandrapur by MSRTC Bus – My 500 KM, 14.5-Hour Real Diary

My Ambejogai to Chandrapur journey starts where my last journey ended.

On 2nd February 2026, I did my longest MSRTC journey till now – Ratnagiri to Ambejogai – 510 KM in 13 hours. You can read that full diary here – Ratnagiri to Ambejogai by Bus – My Longest Journey Yet.

I reached Ambejogai at 11:30 PM on 2nd Feb night. I was fully tired, so I stayed in Ambejogai for 2 days – 3rd and 4th February.

I visited many places there and took proper rest.Then on 5th February 2026, at 6:15 AM, I took the next direct bus from Ambejogai to Chandrapur.

This was my second longest journey – 500 KM, 14.5 hours, from Marathwada to Vidarbha.This post is my real diary of that 5th Feb journey – With my watch times, ticket price, rivers I crossed, and chai halts.This is from my small notebook.

When I checked at Ambejogai bus stand, the inquiry window told me there is a direct bus to Chandrapur via Parbhani and Hingoli. It was a long route, almost 500 km. I decided to take it because I wanted to see how the landscape changes from Beed district to Chandrapur district. This is my real diary of that day.

5:45 AM – At Ambejogai Bus Stand

I reached Ambejogai bus stand at 5:45 AM. The morning was still dark. The tea stalls were just opening. The announcement was going on in Marathi.

I asked at the enquiry window, “Sir, Chandrapur direct bus ahe ka?”
He said without looking up, “Ahe, 6:15 wali Parbhani-Hingoli wali. Platform 2 la lagli.”
I said, “Kiti vajta pohochate?”
He said, “Sandhyakal paryant. Ticket conductor kade milel.

My bus was supposed to come at 6:15 AM. I bought one chai and waited on Platform 2. The stand was not very crowded that early. I saw many students and daily workers waiting for Parli and Latur buses.

At exactly 6:10 AM, the Chandrapur bus came. It was a regular Lalpari MSRTC bus, not a Shivshahi. The board said Ambejogai to Chandrapur. The bus belonged to Beed division and Chandrapur depot.

6:15 AM to 6:38 AM – Ambejogai to Parli Vaijnath

The bus left Ambejogai exactly at 6:15 AM. Conductor came and shouted, “Chandrapur, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Warora…”
I asked, “Kaka, Ambejogai to Chandrapur kiti ticket?”
He punched the machine and said, “800 rupaye. Purna AC nahi, non-stop nahi, sagle thambte.”
I gave him 800, he said,” Yavatmal paryant seat khali nahi honar”

The bus was about 70% full from the starting point itself. I sat near the window on the left side. I always take window seat to write my diary. He gave me a long ticket.

The road from Ambejogai to Parli Vaijnath is really good. The driver was driving smoothly. we took some passengers on Highway at Baba Chowk and then at Giravali. We passed Kanherwadi village within 15 minutes. I could see green farms on both sides.

The morning air was fresh. After about 23 minutes, we reached Parli Vaijnath. We stopped near Azad Chowk, then went inside Parli Vaijnath bus stand. We reached there at 6:38 AM on Platform No. 3.

The bus took a 10-minute halt. Many passengers got down for Vaijnath Temple darshan. I also got down to stretch my legs. The Parli stand was clean that morning. I saw many people buying pooja material outside the stand.

6:48 AM to 7:30 AM – Parli Vaijnath to Gangakhed

We left Parli at 6:48 AM. The next stop was Gangakhed. This is a short route. We went via Margalwadi village. The road is single but okay. I was writing my diary and noting down village names. The conductor was shouting “Gangakhed, Gangakhed”.

We reached Gangakhed bus stand at 7:30 AM. This stand is very old. You can see the old building. The ground is not tarred, it is muddy. If it rains, it will be full of mud. That is what I felt. The bus took only 5 minutes halt here. From Gangakhed, the conductor told me Parbhani is 36 km ahead. I bought a small water bottle here.

7:35 AM to 8:30 AM – Gangakhed to Parbhani

This was one of my favorite stretches. After Gangakhed, the highway is wide. We crossed Dushalgav and there we crossed the big Godavari River and passed through Daithana village. The bridge is long. I could see water in the river. Then we passed Pokharni Phata and Brahman Phata. Small villages were coming and going. The bus stopped at some small phatas to pick up 2-3 passengers. It is a lifeline for those small villages.

Exactly at 8:30 AM, we entered Parbhani city and reached Parbhani bus stand. This was my 3rd big bus stand on this journey. Parbhani bus stand is very big. It is always crowded. Parbhani is close to Aurangabad, if you are coming from Marathwada side, you can also check my Aurangabad to Ichalkaranji bus diary which covers the same Marathwada belt. I saw many buses for Nanded, Aurangabad, Hingoli.

I had completed 91 km from Ambejogai till Parbhani. The conductor announced 10 minutes halt. I got down and had a chai and one vada pav. The chai at Parbhani stand was good. From Parbhani, Hingoli was still 71 km left, the driver told me.

8:40 AM to 9:41 AM – Parbhani to Aundha Nagnath

We left Parbhani at 8:40 AM. The road ahead was busy. We passed small but important villages. First we passed Asola, then Nandgaon Khurd. Here we crossed the Purna river. The Purna river bridge is not very big but you can feel the bus going slow on it. Then we came to Zhishi Phata, Adgaon, Jawla, Nagesh Wadi. These are all small villages but the bus driver knew every phata by heart.

He stopped exactly where people were waiting. Finally at 9:41 AM, we reached Aundha Nagnath bus stand. Aundha Nagnath is famous for the Nagnath temple, which is one of the Jyotirlingas. I could see some pilgrims getting down here. The stand is small but okay. We took a 5-minute halt.

9:46 AM to 10:13 AM – Aundha Nagnath to Hingoli

From Aundha, Hingoli is only 30 km. This is a very short distance. We went via Yehalegaon and Hiwara village. The road is narrow here. Before entering Hingoli, we crossed the Kayadhu river. The Kayadhu river bridge is just before Hingoli city. We entered Hingoli bus stand at 10:13 AM.

The first thing I noticed at Hingoli was the crowd. A lot of crowd. The conductor also told me that Hingoli stand is always crowded. Even in the off-season, you will see a crowd because many buses come and go. For 12 months, you will see this crowd here. I did not get down here because the halt was only 2 minutes.

10:15 AM to 10:50 AM – Hingoli to Kalamnuri

At Hingoli, a old kaku sitting next to me got down. A college boy sat.

He asked, “Chandrapur la jaate ka bhau?”

I said, “Ho, tumhi?”

He said, “Mazha Pusad cha roz cha pravas ahe.” Ha road kharab ahe, Pusad nantar dhakka khup lagtat. Zop laganar nahi.”

And he was 100% right, after Pusad the road was full of jerks.

We left Hingoli at 10:15 AM. Just 3 KM outside Hingoli on Nanded Road, we passed Savarkheda Phata. The driver stopped there for 30 seconds, an old lady with vegetable basket got in. This is Sawarkheda village Panchayat of Hingoli Taluka.

Then before Kalamnuri, about 6 KM before Kalamnuri town, we crossed Umara village, local people call it Umash Phata. At Umash Phata one college boy got down and my new co-passenger who goes daily to Pusad sat with me.

When I entered Kalamnuri stand, I saw some construction work was going on. Some new platform work was happening. So the bus had to go to the back side of the stand. The driver was a bit angry because of the construction. We stopped for 5 minutes. I saw labourers working with cement.

10:55 AM to 11:20 AM – Kalamnuri to Pusad Belt

From Kalamnuri, my next big mark was Pusad. Pusad is almost 50 km from Kalamnuri. We left Kalamnuri at 10:55 AM. We went via Babhale village. The road here is surrounded by farms. At Kolha village, we crossed the Penganga river. The Penganga river is big and it is the border of Yavatmal district.

After crossing it, we entered Yavatmal district. We reached Sambhal Pimpri bus stand at 11:20 AM. The conductor told me this was my 7th stop from Ambejogai. I was already tired but excited. The bus was getting emptier now. Many passengers from Marathwada got down at Hingoli and Kalamnuri. Now mostly Vidarbha passengers were in the bus.

11:20 AM to 4:00 PM – Sambhal Pimpri to Yavatmal – My Real Route

At Sambhal Pimpri I had tea and bhaji at a small tapri outside the stand. The conductor shouted “Chalo, chalo”. We left Sambhal Pimpri.

From Sambhal Pimpri we went via Sandwa village and reached Pusad. Pusad is a big taluka place. Then we went to Warud and reached Digras at 1:00 PM at afternoon. At Digras many passengers got down. My seat became fully empty.

From Digras we went via Gandhi Nagar. Just after Gandhi Nagar we crossed the Arunavati river bridge. I did not know this river name before, I noted it from a board. Then we reached Darwha at 3:00 PM. At Darwha, I asked conductor “Yavatmal ajun kiti?” He said “45 KM ahe Darwha pasun”.

From Darwha we went via Waghapur village and finally reached Yavatmal bus stand at 4:00 PM. At Yavatmal bus stand, the bus took a 20 minute halt.

4:00 PM to 6:45 PM – Yavatmal to Wani – Evening Journey

We left Yavatmal at 4:00 PM. The bus went via Yerad, Jodmaha, Vatbori and Metikheda. The road here is single but okay. At 5:00 PM we stopped for lunch at Hotel Hindustani. I had my lunch there – it was late lunch.

After lunch, we passed Mohada, then Runza and Karanji village. At Karanji we crossed Karanji Toll Naka. The toll naka was busy with trucks. Then we passed Moregaon village. Finally at 6:45 PM we reached Wani bus stand. At Wani bus stand it was already dark. From Wani, 73 KM was still left to go further in darkness.

6:45 PM to 7:36 PM – Wani to Warora – Final Dark Stretch

We left Wani at 6:45 PM. The bus lights were on inside. Then we passed Pataala village. After Pataala we crossed the Wardha river bridge near Majri. The Wardha river bridge is very long. After that we crossed Kuchna Toll Naka. Finally at 7:36 PM at night, we reached Warora bus stand. At Warora board I saw Chandrapur was only 47 KM left.

We left Warora at 7:45 PM. It was completely dark now. The bus lights were on inside. We went via Ghodpet village. This road is busy with coal trucks. The driver was honking a lot. Before entering Chandrapur city, we crossed the Irai river bridge.

Then we passed Lakhamapur area, which is like a suburb of Chandrapur. The city lights started coming. The roads became better with street lights. Finally, at 8:45 PM, the bus entered Chandrapur Central Bus Stand. It is a big bus stand. I got down.

My legs were paining because I sat for 14.5 hours.  My whole body was paining, back pain because of continuous MSRTC sitting. But I was happy I completed this 500 km journey in one single MSRTC bus. So I decided to take 2 days rest in Chandrapur itself. I stayed at a small lodge near Chandrapur bus stand for Rs 500 per night on 5th, 6th and 7th Feb.

Why I stayed 2 days?

• Body was fully jam.
• I wanted to explore Chandrapur Black Gold City -Ballarpur Fort and Tadoba museum for my blog.
• Sironcha weekly market is on Monday, so I wanted to reach Sironcha on Sunday 9th Feb before market rush.

My Total Expense For This Trip – What I Actually Paid

My Tip: Carry 1200 Rupees cash for this route. Ticket is 800 but food + water will be extra 200-250 Rupees. UPI works at Parbhani and Yavatmal but not at small phatas.

My Final Tips If You Want To Do This Journey:

1. This is a long journey. Take water and some snacks.
2. The morning 6:15 AM bus is good because you reach Chandrapur before 9 PM.
3. Parbhani and Yavatmal are the best stops for good chai and food.
4. In summer, Hingoli to Yavatmal stretch will be very hot. Keep a cap.
5. Ticket was 800 Rupees when I traveled. It may be 850-900 now. Carry cash, though UPI works at big stands.
6. If you want to go to Tadoba Tiger Reserve, you can get down at Warora or Chandrapur. Chandrapur is the main base for Tadoba.

What I Learnt From This 500 KM Ambejogai to Chandrapur Journey

This was not just a bus journey for me. It was my longest single MSRTC journey till now. 14.5 hours in one bus taught me many things.

1. MSRTC Is The Real Lifeline of Small Villages:
you saw names like Kanherwadi, Margalwadi, Asola, Zhishi Phata, Adgaon, Savarkheda. These are not big cities. No private bus stops there. Only our Lalpari MSRTC stops. I saw old ladies with vegetable baskets, students with school bags, farmers – all waiting at a small Phata with no shade. When our bus stopped, they smiled. I learnt that for them, this Ambejogai to Chandrapur bus is not just a bus, it is their connection to the city, to hospital, to school. That is why I always respect MSRTC drivers.

2. One Ticket, 8 Rivers – I Saw Maharashtra’s Geography Live:
I did not know this before. In one single journey, I crossed eight rivers.Manjara near Ambejogai, Godavari at Dushalgav, Purna near Nandgaon, Kayadhu before Hingoli, Penganga at Kolha, Arunavati near Digras, Wardha near Majri, and finally Irai before Chandrapur. In school we read about these rivers. But in the bus, when the bus goes slow on the bridge and you see the water flowing below, you actually remember the name. This is real experience, not book knowledge. This is what I want to show on nomadpatel.in.

3. Marathwada to Vidarbha – The Landscape Changes Completely:
Till Parbhani, the land was green with farms. After Hingoli and Kalamnuri, it became dry and dusty. Hingoli stand taught me that – full of dust for 12 months. Then after Yavatmal, as we came near Warora and Chandrapur, I started seeing black coal dust on trucks and roads. The people, their language tone, even the chai taste changes. Marathwada chai is a bit more sugary, Vidarbha chai is strong. I learnt that Maharashtra is not one, it has many small cultures inside.

4. Planning For A 14.5-Hour Bus Journey:
I made a mistake initially. I did not carry enough water. I bought it at Gangakhed for 20 Rupees. My learning for you: If you do this route, carry 2 water bottles, some biscuits, a small handkerchief for dust at Hingoli, and a power bank. My phone battery died after Yavatmal because I was writing notes. Also, always take a window seat on the left side – you get less sun in the morning. And keep cash. At Parli and Parbhani UPI works, but at small phatas, only cash works.

5. Respect For MSRTC Driver and Conductor:
Our driver drove 500 KM continuously with only a 20-minute break at Yavatmal. He knew every single Phata, every river bridge, every speed breaker. At Kuchna Toll Naka, he managed the toll fast. At night near Warora, the road was full of coal trucks, but he drove safely. The conductor stood for 9 hours, giving tickets, shouting stops. I talked to him near Warora. He said he does this Ambejogai to Chandrapur and back to Ambejogai in 2 days. It is very hard duty. After this journey, my respect for MSRTC staff increased a lot.

Final Personal Note:
When I got down at Chandrapur at 8:45 PM, my legs were paining, my back was paining, but my heart was happy. I had a full diary with 14 pages of notes, ticket, and a story. That is why I started nomadpatel.in – Not to copy timetables, but to save these real stories. If I just write “Bus at 5:30, ticket 800”, it has no value. But when I write “I paid 800, I drank chai at Parbhani at 8:30 AM, I saw dust at Hingoli”, it becomes my real experience.
