Namaskar and Jai Maharashtra friends. Today in my blog I will give you information about my Chikhali To Shirdi journey.
Friends, before I start this journey, I want to tell you how I reached Chikhali to begin this journey, because this is a continuation of my previous journey. In my previous blog, I told you about my Pandharpur to Buldhana bus journey.
That bus was MH 20 GC 2826 and it was 477 kilometers. That bus started from Pandharpur at 6:00 AM from platform number 6 and it went via Solapur, Dharashiv, Tuljapur, Beed, Jalna and finally Buldhana.
On that route, my bus reached Chikhli Bus Stand at 5:15 PM in the evening. From Chikhli, Buldhana was only 25 kilometers remaining and till Chikhli I had already covered 455 kilometers from Pandharpur. My final arrival at Buldhana was at 6:00 PM in the evening.
After reaching Buldhana, I took a night halt at Buldhana. Next day morning I came back to Chikhli Bus Stand to start my new journey from Chikhali to Shirdi. So this Chikhali to Shirdi journey is a direct continuation of my Pandharpur to Buldhana journey. If you have not read my Pandharpur to Buldhana journey, please read it first. It will help you to understand the full route from West Maharashtra to Vidarbha and then to North Maharashtra.

This is the route via Jalna and Aurangabad. Many people call Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar now. So the route is Chikhli to Jalna, then Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, then Shrirampur and finally Shirdi.

My Real Hour By Hour Journey – With Each and Every Village, River and Toll Naka
Now my bus is running on the Nagpur to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar highway via Pambulwadi. From Pambulwadi, it went to Muradpur and also via Mera Khurd village. After traveling for a long time on this highway, via Sar Amba Phata and via Deulgaon Mahi and via Sindkhedraja where a bridge is built on the Purna River, the bus runs on the bridge built on the Purna River. After covering a long distance, which means after traveling 57 kilometers from Chikhali Bus Stand, now my bus reached Deulgaon Raja Bus Stand at 6:45 AM in the morning.
Deulgaon Raja Bus Stand is an important bus stand in Buldhana district. From Deulgaon Raja Bus Stand, the next place that was coming was Jalna. Jalna was established at a distance of at least 30 kilometers. After traveling on this route via Bhivgaon and via Waghrul and after traveling for a long time, now my bus reached Jalna Bus Stand at 8:00 AM in the morning and after reaching Jalna Bus Stand, again it started running on the Jalna Chhatrapati Sambhaji highway.
While running on this highway, the bus went via Badnapur village and also via Varudi and Shekta. These two villages are after Badnapur. Then after crossing the Dudhna River and via Karamad village and via Ladgaon where there is a toll naka, it crossed the toll naka at Ladgaon and then it ran on the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar to Chikalthana highway and it reached Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar CIDCO Bus Stand at 9:30 AM in the morning.
From here onwards, the bus takes a halt at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Central Bus Stand for food. From here onwards, it goes via Newasa route to Shrirampur and finally Shirdi.
At Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, there are timetables given at two places. In one timetable, the time of arriving buses and departing buses is given and in the second timetable, the information about ticket price is given. This is important because at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar there are two big bus stands – CIDCO Bus Stand and Central Bus Stand.
After halting for almost half an hour for food, my bus now became ready for the next journey. From here onwards, almost 128 kilometers distance was remaining.
The bus now travels on the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Ahmednagar highway via Waluj. From Waluj, it crossed the toll naka near Keti Sangam and also via Limbe Jalgaon and also via Doregav and then after that it traveled on the bridge built on the Godavari River and then it traveled via Pravara Sangam and after traveling for a long time, my bus reached Newasa Bus Stand and after reaching Newasa Bus Stand, to reach its next stage, it started traveling on the bridge of Pravara River and via Takli Bhan village and via Shrirampur here on platform number 4 at 12:30 PM in the afternoon it reached.
On this route, I had four districts which were Buldhana, Jalna, Sambhajinagar and Ahmednagar. This is how the route was. So you cross four districts in this 270 kilometer journey.
From here, my MSRTC Bus started its next stage via Babaleshwar route to reach Shirdi. From here onwards, Shirdi had 36 kilometers distance remaining.
After leaving Shrirampur Bus Stand, the next place that was coming on my route was Khandala and from Khandala to Mamdapur and also via Babaleshwar Bus Stand it takes a small halt for some time and after running for a long time via Rahata, finally it reached Shirdi Bus Stand at 1:30 PM in the afternoon.
Chikhali to Shirdi Final Destination
In this way my Chikhali to Shirdi journey was completed. So my bus left Chikhali at 6:00 AM and reached Shirdi at 1:30 PM. The total journey took 7 hours and 30 minutes including all halts.

My Personal Observations
First, this is a direct continuation. Many people ask in Facebook groups how to go from Pandharpur to Shirdi. The best way is to go via Buldhana to Chikhli to Shirdi. I did Pandharpur to Buldhana first, which was 477 kilometers and I reached Chikhli at 5:15 PM. I stayed at night in Chikhli and next day morning at 6:00 AM I took the Chikhli to Shirdi bus MH 20 GC 2897 from platform number 2. So if you want to go from Pandharpur to Shirdi, you can follow my route.
Second, the road condition from Chikhli to Deulgaon Raja is a single road but it is good. The bridge on the Purna River at Sindkhedraja is a big bridge. The bridge on the Dudhna River after Varudi and Shekta is also good. The bridge on the Godavari River after Doregav and the bridge on the Pravara River after Newasa are both big bridges. You will cross four rivers in this journey – Purna, Dudhna, Godavari and Pravara.
Third, the toll nakas on this route are at Ladgaon after Karamad, at Keti Sangam near Waluj, and one more before. So there are two to three toll nakas on this route.
Fourth, the food halt is at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Central Bus Stand. The bus first comes to CIDCO Bus Stand at 9:30 AM and then it goes to Central Bus Stand for food halt for half an hour. At Central Bus Stand, you get good food. From Central Bus Stand, the remaining distance to Shirdi is 128 kilometers. After that, there is no big food halt till Shirdi, only small halts at Newasa, Shrirampur and Babaleshwar.
Fifth, the bus passes through four districts. Buldhana, Jalna, Sambhajinagar and Ahmednagar. So you will see the change in language and culture.
Sixth, Shirdi Bus Stand is very crowded because many devotees come for Sai Baba darshan. My bus reached at 1:30 PM which is afternoon time and even at that time the bus stand was crowded.
If you are reading this post, you should also read my previous post of Pandharpur to Buldhana which was 477 kilometers via Solapur, Dharashiv, Tuljapur, Beed and Jalna. That post will tell you how I reached Chikhli at 5:15 PM from Pandharpur. That bus was MH 20 GC 2826 and it reached Buldhana at 6:00 PM. This Chikhli to Shirdi bus is MH 20 GC 2897 and it is also from Buldhana division. Both buses are from Buldhana depot. So the connection is direct.
My Final Advice For You
If you want to travel from Chikhali to Shirdi, you should take the 6:00 AM bus from platform number 2. It is bus number MH 20 GC 2897. It goes via Jalna, CIDCO, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Newasa, Shrirampur and Rahata. The distance is 270 kilometers and ticket is 250 rupees.
The bus takes almost 7 hours and 30 minutes and it reaches Shirdi at 1:30 PM. The route is good and it crosses four districts and four rivers. You should carry a water bottle and some food because the main food halt is only at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Central Bus Stand at 9:30 AM for half an hour.
